Is it the Dawn of the JLA and I’m convinced JadaBaby could kick my butt!

What a week guys! Time and time again we find ourselves here so we might as well enjoy it! This week we look over the new Batman Vs. Superman movie and spend some time with a new alien from Star Wars.

So make yourself comfortable and settle in. Make sure to gather your thoughts and let us know what you think in the comments below!

Lets start out with possibly the biggest news of the week. Batman Vs. Superman… let’s start there. This is supposed to be the sequal to Man of Steel. Yet Batman gets the first billing in the title. Now I love Batman much more than Sups but still… that’s just insulting.

Next… the Dawn of Justice part. I actually like what this is pointing to and the fact that DC may actually be showing some balls and future planning besides rehashing old stories and rebooting everything. Maybe, just maybe, we will finally be rolling towards a real JLA!

Our next bit of news came in the form of the snapshot above. It was from a promo for the new Star Wars movie coming. Abrams was talking over the chance to be in the next installment and their plans with that and helping people in the process.

Everyone seemed to ignore that completely and just focus on the Alien that passed by during the video. It was nice to see a new alien that was not CGI but done the old fashioned way. I really hope to see tons of new faces and a few returning old ones done in the style that made this franchise what it is today! We can only hope to get the Star Wars we all know and love!

This week we have 5 questions with none other than JadaBaby! A lady as sexy and she is dangerous. With a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and working towards doing MMA fighting! Hard to find a nerdy lady that is this dangerous. Well, enjoy!

1. Anyone who has seen your cosplays loves your slave leia! Which of the star wars movies is your favorite?

My favorite Star Wars movie is any of the original 3 so 4,5, and 6 I am a huge Han Solo fan

2. What is a word or phrase that people use that drives you insane?

I can’t stand when people say “totes” for totally. I mean god people how bored and lazy are you that you have to come up with words that don’t make sense? Lol

3. What is the strangest gift or request you have had from a fan?

I have been asked if if I would dress up as a babe and wear a diaper and pee in it on camera, yes that was fucking out there I know lol.

4. What is your favorite form of nerdom? (Video games, comics, movies, etc)

My favorite form of nerdom is definitely movies! I know everything there is to know about horror movies, I’m a junkie pretty much or tv shows I’m the same way.

5. What are your plans for the rest of 2014?

I plan on starting mma at some point, because my passion is definitely fighting but other than that I plan on partying and enjoying my life

Well guys that wraps it up for this week! Hope you all enjoyed your time here and hope you will join us again next week and for a long time to come!

For those of you guys in Tulsa, Ok Make sure to come by Wizards Asylum for our game night! This time it is all war games and we are going to see who can take over the world first!

Till next week guys, This is Steps!

Uncle E gets the feels

At my age, I can’t tell you what I did last week, but I can remember the music I listened too in High School.  The cartoons I drug myself out of bed to watch on a Saturday morning.  (Yeah, no netflix or Cartoon Network, kids)  The toys I clamored for as a child.

I might not get too excited about what’s on TV now, but have Facebook pop a picture of Darkwing Duck and I light up.  Give me an episode of Scooby Doo any day over the crap thadownloadt’s on the cartoon channels now.  But I digress.  What is it about the things we grow up with that changes our attention span?  I can’t keep up with the New 52 or Marvel’s Ultimate line, but give me a few hours and I can tell you the family history of most of the known comic universe…the way it used to be at least.

What brought this bit of nostalgia on?  Well, True Believer, I was walking around the tables at the Tulsa Comic Expo last week and thinking.  Ok, let me rephrase that a bit.  I was running from table to table, geeking out like some ten year old.  I mean, let’s be honest.  There was some pretty cool stuff there!  I mean a full scale metal replica of Cap’s shield sold for over $600!  Belt buckles made of comic pages!  Masks and all sorts of props!  Comics everywhere!  And, oh my God, it’s Abe freakin’ Sapien!

Ok, I MUST take a breath.  I’m sorry.  It’s still fresh in the ole memory and it was awesome.  But what is it about things we love that triggers something chemical in us?  I mean, it triggers something akin to Bruce Banner getting angry.  It’s like adrenaline pumping through our veins giving us a rush like none other.  It transforms us from the old tired adults we’ve become to the children we all are (or at least was) inside.  If you could bottle that up and sell it in a store, it would be revolutionary.

But you can’t.  Like the children we used to be, our energy is wasted on our youth.  But, for one short minute, it comes back and, in a flash, it’s gone.  Is that why we fan-boys and girls grip our fandoms so tight?  Is that why we cling to the things that bring that energy back, if even for a moment.  I, for one, believe it is.  It’s the glimpse of an old comic.  The feel of a classic action figure in or out of the box.  It’s the image of our childhood heroes on the big screen.  The sound of that song you danced to at the prom.  It is the energy that keeps us alive and vital.  It is the life that the work-a-day world tries to suck right out of you.

They told you coming out of grade school, “Grow up.  Big boys don’t play with dolls.”

“They’re action figures” You mutter as if they cared.

They told you as you went to High School, “Grow up.  Cool guys don’t read comic books.”

“Are you kidding?  That’s a classic mint condition, Clairmont Uncanny X-men…”  You replied but they weren’t listening.

They told you as you graduated and went to work or college, “Anime’s for emo teenagers and God forbid you still watch old episodes of Invader Zim!  It’s just not becoming of an adult…”

But, thank the good Lord above, somewhere down the line, we stopped listening.
We returned to the comic book store and found us a new D&D group.  We watch what we want on Netflix without a care for what the world thinks.  REVENGE OF THE NERDS was right!  We all ARE nerds!  Each and every one of us.  And, finally, we’re not afraid to admit it.

So celebrate every chance you get, TRUE BELIEVER!  Work on that cosplay!  Go to the cons!  Get that issue of Spiderman signed by Angel Medina!   Get your picture taken with the Ghostbusters and the Storm Troopers standing around the Tardis and be proud!  Because that’s youth, pure and simple.  To celebrate the things we love without a care in the world and no matter who’s watching.  To enjoy it, not only alone, but with others who love the things we love!

I may not be able to put my finger on the scientific formula for youth, but I know one thing.  The unending pursuit of the things we love and even of newer, more potent things to love is the essence of life.  Grab it with everything you got and with all the tenacity of a child who will never, EVER let their favorite toy go.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I think I have a date with the Fantastic Four, the John Byrne years.  Maybe I can remember how they used to be and catch a little lightning in a bottle!

We return with Benny the Batman and Nikki Fett rules the iron throne!

Welcome  back guys! Did you miss us? We sure missed you guys but we have been doing some awesome things and are happy to bring some of them to you today!

We will start with the convention we went to last weekend! It was amazing and had a great time. The Tulsa Comic Expo was small but a great time with awesome people! We will have interviews with up tonight and tomorrow. These include Doug Jones, Neil Kaplin, Cerina Vincent, and more! Make sure to check back or follow the blog to get updates!

The next piece of news is the next convention that we will be at! We are going to Denver in June for the awesome Denver Comic Con! The guest list is huge as well as all the awesome panels! I can not wait to be there and we hope to see some of you there!

This week we got the thing that has been the buzz of the internet since it was released. We finally got to see Benny as the bat. Now before we go into all the hate mail and so on, let’s look at it (if you haven’t already seen it)

If you didn’t already know the suit is based off of Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns series of comics (see below) and I…..

LOVE the look! I didn’t think there was a chance that I would like the suit or Ben as Batman, but I do. This is the first thing from this movie that I have seen and actually thought was a good move. Maybe we will see a different side of Batman. We get an older, more experienced Batman, and also moving into the new suit. Tell us what you think in the comment below? Still think that Affleck can’t pull it off? I know we haven’t seen his acting yet but the look has a lot to do with it!

This week we brought in the awesome and sexy Nikki Fett! We thought long and hard about these 5 questions and the answer came out awesome. Enjoy and leave us some questions you think we should ask our next interview in the comments below!

1. What is the roughest part of modeling that no one knows?

I think the roughest part of modeling is that a lot of photographers, models, makeup artists, form these “exclusive” groups that tend to only work with each other. It’s hard to try and work with new artists because of this. The fact that I am not a traditional clean cut model doesn’t help as well, I am tattooed, bright hair colored and a bit geeky. Some people just don’t like that haha

2. If you could actually be any female character. Who would you pick?

2. Would it have to be a female character?! haha I would love to be Boba Fett! Since he is not a woman, I would pick Psylocke. She is the ultimate bad ass chick in my eyes.

3. What is something you wish you had known when you were younger?

I wish I could have known not to listen to all the bullies in school when I was growing up!

  4. What’s the last movie that made you literally scream and/or hide your eyes?

I tend not to watch scary movies. I am the biggest wuss! haha the original exorcist movie was the first scary movie I had ever seen and it still scares the crap out of me today though.

 5. Which is better: ps4, xbox one, or pc?

5. I tried out the PS4 and liked it a lot. Still haven’t tried the Xbox one yet but I would say PC! I don’t have to worry about wanting to play a game, but not having the console with PC games. Once you have a good PC set up, it can last you a really long time.
