The company Cyan is back at it again! 20 years after releasing the amazing computer game Myst, they have fulfilled a kick starter to fund their new game Obduction!
Personally, the original Myst games is still one of my favorite games ever! The sequel Riven was great as well… oh hell. All of the Myst games were amazing, and this one looks just as good.
Although it is not in the same world as the Myst games, it looks to be the same kind of concept. A new world, that is wide open to explore and learn more about with every clue to find. Here is the official plot so far:
Obduction’s experience supplies what every good storyteller does: a very personal window into a much larger world. Obduction begins with… well, an abduction – your abduction. On a crystal clear, moon-lit night, a curious, organic artifact drops from the sky and inexplicably whisks you away across the universes to who-knows-where (or when, or why).
And, as anyone who ever played Myst or Riven knows, exploring everything around you allows you to read between the lines and to begin to answer your questions. Why is there an old, abandoned farmhouse – complete with white picket fence – in the middle of an alien landscape? You’ll find out. From this point on the story becomes your story.
They did all this by starting a kick stater and raising… you ready for it…. 1.1 million dollars! They reached that goal but that has not stopped money from pouring in. They are currently at 1.3 million and still going. They said they have left room in their plan to grow and expand the game as the budget grows. With the last goal reached they even added Oculus Rift support to the game. That would make the experience complete for me! It would make it perfect!
Will this game make the same splash did back in the day? I sure hope so. It would be an awesome thing to be able to play a game that really makes me think again. Most games these days, even if good, don’t really get the old noodle going. I miss puzzle games from back in the day.

The game is set to release in mid to late 2015 but if you would like to help them grow and add even more to this already awesome game, then make sure to check out the kick starter at the link below. They even have some fantastic backer gifts. Make sure to check them out here:
